For my first review/recap on this blog, I have decided to do my all-time favorite movie... Mr. Popper's Penguins directed by Mark Waters starring Jim Carrey!!
Many people have probably seen this movie and thought it was a nice family film, but they don't feel the need to watch it over and over again. I am not one of those people! I have seen this movie probably, hmmm, a little over 100 times(that may be a little dramatic, but I can literally recite the entire film, so I don't think so) and I never get sick of it! I love sneaking my favorite lines into everyday conversations (to name a few: "You captain Popper's baby?" "Ya, I only pick up the dead ones" "Who gives a rat's butt!") and I love to reenact all my favorite scenes for anyone who asks (or doesn't, I'll do it anyway).
Let me give you some reasons why this movie is not your average family film... Number one, there are like two semi-inappropriate jokes, so for at least two minutes of the film, adults are also entertained. Number two, Jim Carrey is HILARIOUS... need I say more. And number three, I mean come on, it is such a heartwarming story with such depth that no matter if you are five or sixty-five, you will understand this story's message and find it extremely entertaining.
This light movie will bring out the child in anyone, even the compulsive businessman, and make you want to dance with penguins and enjoy an exhilarating adventure with your family. It's about bringing families together (and how to raise penguins as children) and learning that sometimes, things should just be fun with no conflict of earnestness.
(That's me not Jim Carrey. I know, we look a lot alike)
So, there's my review for my all-time favorite movie, Mr. Popper's Penguins. I hope you found it interesting, and, if you can, I challenge you to go and watch this film and have a good laugh! And please comment below one of your favorite parts of this movie :)
