Becoming by Michelle Obama is a memoir of the former First Lady of the United States that shows all the ups and downs of being a child growing up in Chicago to living in the White House. Split into three sections, this book will give you an insight into Michelle Obama's childhood years, college years, and presidency years. Becoming shows the true mind of Michelle Obama as she puts her story down in writing and tells fascinating anecdotes and stories about her life. If you have any interest in learning about the making of a wonderful First Lady or want to learn more about what it's like being the First Lady of the United States, this book is for you!

I absolutely loved Becoming by Michelle Obama! A lot of times the First Family of the United States can seem so far away and almost unrealistic, but Michelle Obama shows that the First Family is like any other. Personally, my favorite part of the book was the last part, "Becoming More". In this section, Obama tells all about her time in the White House. From raising her two daughters to raising her public health campaign, this section shares what it's like to be a leader, and I love that! 

One of the reasons I love this book is because it flows very nicely. Within each section of the book, there is a common theme that blends itself into the next section and then the next to make a well-rounded memoir. Personally, I also believe that the way Obama tells her story and the details that she gives makes this book extremely modern and easy to read. Unlike most other memoirs or biographies, Becoming is not bogged down by facts to make the Obama's look good, instead, Michelle Obama writes in a very open way by sharing about every doubt she's had in her life and every wonderful thing that has happened to her. 

Michelle Obama has had a very inspiring life from growing up on the South Side of Chicago to living in the biggest and whitest house in the U.S., anyone can take something from what Michelle Obama has learned throughout her life and apply it to their own. 

I really hope that you all go out and read Becoming by Michelle Obama because it is very contemporary and makes the incredible life she has worked for seem like a possible life for anyone in the world!
